Native Americans

This is just a small selection of the many portraits that I took as part of a personal project at an Indian Tribe Festival in Idaho. Native Indian tribes come from across the US and Canada each year for this event. This festival was being hosted by the Shoshone -Bannock tribes on their Fort Hall reservation.

Having got permission from the organisers, I set up by pinning a $20 rug to the side of a fast-food truck that was parked right next to the entrance to the main event ring.

This meant that I was able to ask everyone passing if they could give me 5 minutes of their time to take their portrait. I had 2 lights and got a maximum of 6 frames per person.

Their outfits were incredible, many 100’s of years old and passed down through the generations, each person working and modifying whilst they are caretaker of these precious pieces of Native America history. As ever with my personal projects, I make sure to send everyone their portrait.
